The premium Game Reserve range of wines makes a significant contribution to sustaining the South African wildlife and wilderness treasures in association with Wilderness Foundation Africa. These wines, under the custodianship of Rooiberg Winery, contribute significantly to the Foundation from wine sales.

Rooiberg, as part of the  Rooiberg Breede River Conservancy Corridor Project, operates in collaboration with various property owners in the area – identified as an important conservation site which forms a natural corridor of leopard and other wild species to interact with one another. In fact the Robertson-McGregor area has shown the highest density leopard population in expansive studies by the Landmark Foundation – an organization that addresses threats to wildlife and works with the relevant land-owners in this regard.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Displaying distinctive aromas of red berries, sweet spices and hints of white pepper. The well balanced palate is layered with mulberry and black cherry fruit complemented by a spicy freshness. This rich and ripe Shiraz is well structured with silky tannins, an appealing piquancy and a long, lingering finish.
Vineyard Notes
From our Stellenbosch vineyards. Granite gravels with underlying layers of clay.
Food Pairing Notes
Serve with North African dishes, spicy Moroccan tagines or hearty casseroles.
Other Notes
he Eland: Derived from the Dutch meaning elk, the eland (Taurotragus oryx) is the largest antelope in Africa with an average weight of around 700 kg. Despite this bulk it can jump with ease up to two meters high. These browsers are perfectly adapted to the Karoo, requiring a substantial grazing area, a commodity very rare in wine production areas. Through our conservation efforts we’re able to provide this graceful animal with a perfectly suited natural habitat.
